My family has been going to Vans Camp at Catalina for years. It is one of the most amazing
houses/properties on the island. Built on a double lot with grass so kids can play, a big porch for family dinners and amazing kitchen, this house works for a family or a bigger group. Centrally located, it’s been great to go and watch the kids roam around the island freely playing mini golf, swimming in the ocean, playing skee ball at the arcade. An old-fashioned holiday just miles from our shore and still in the (310) area code! Couldn’t recommend it more, a week here will leave you feeling refreshed and re-energized!

Van's Camp is definitely one-of-a-kind on Catalina. Not only does it have a wonderful deck and garden which are unheard of in Avalon, but you can feel you are in a house with a rich history. It can easily accommodate a large group, but is equally pleasant for a small family. The location cannot be topped. You can walk everywhere with ease. One of my favorite things it to haul the red wagon to the grocery store.

We have spent many amazing summer weeks at Vans' Camp in Avalon. The house is very inviting and great for big groups. The ease of getting everywhere makes everyone independent, it is great to leave the car behind and walk, scoot or bike. Catalina is great for all ages...my kids loved it when they were little and still love it there. Snorkeling is great, hiking in the hills above Avalon is beautiful, relaxing in the yard....and more!

Van's Camp is the perfect vacation house. The location, the accommodations, and the spirit. It's big enough for large groups but cozy enough if a couple wants a quiet weekend away. The kitchen is a dream to cook in. The deck is perfect long summer dinners.
The town of Avalon is quaint and lovely with great little places to eat if you'd prefer not too cook.
The island has great hiking, mountain biking--but the best part is the snorkeling. Amazing fish and kelp forests that are accessible to both beginners and experts.
It's a great getaway--only an hour from LA but within the first day you'll forget about the mainland.

My time spent at Vans Camp has been one of the most relaxing and delightful experiences of my and my families life. The gorgeous ferry ride into Avalon ( heaven), the short, scenic walk to camp, which is a mixture of rustic and modern, fills me with happiness. The house is spacious yet cozy - lots of light, a well appointed kitchen and a huge field stone fireplace. not to mention a wooden swing in the living room, built for two. The bedrooms are very inviting and comfortable. The camp has all the modern amenities. The wooden fence provides privacy and the back yard, though small, is lush with grass and trees, plants and shrubs that invite hummingbirds to hang out. Favorite memories include: sitting on the large deck, colorful lanterns creating the perfect ambiance for a delicious dinner of fresh fish (bought at the local market) cooked on the gas grill, a huge green salad, candles and wine. playing ping pong on the back patio, riding the provided bikes around the touristy yet charming town, snorkeling with the Garibaldi fish and hiking, hiking hiking! This house on Catalina Island is the perfect, comfy and fun getaway destination.
